ANTIGEN RAPID TEST
Point-of-Care Mass Screening & Self-Test
A antigen rapid test (ART) is a rapid diagnostic test suitable for point-of-care testing that detects the presence or absence of an antigen (an indicator of coronavirus).
ARTs require minimal training or infrastructure, and have significant cost advantages as they cost only a fraction of existing forms of PCR testing.
Most importantly, they are quick to implement and can give a result between 10 to 15 minutes.
Therefore, they are best used as part of mass testing or population-wide screening approaches, so as to identify infected individuals who could potentially spread the virus to a larger number of other people.
